Spirited Art Event

Hey all!

We’ve got a fun event announcement for you today, but first, let me introduce you to Focused Outreach Richmond. It’s mission is, “to provide safe, supportive and structured housing for individuals with a psychiatric condition who have been recently released from jail or prison.” FOR is a nonprofit that was founded by River City Comprehensive Counseling Services and believes firmly providing second chances. Many ex-offenders have the capacity and capability to live a successful life after release from incarceration, but many often just need a helping hand. FOR provides between 4-6 months of transitional housing for those who would otherwise be homeless or going back to a poor home environment. During this time, they learn basic skills such as cooking, cleaning, and hygiene. They also learn how to set up a bank account, search and apply for jobs, what it means to live independently, and how to manage issues such as mental health or substance use. Each individual is provided with professional counseling that includes individual sessions and group sessions designed to change their thinking into positive behaviors and prepare them to become successful community citizens. Great cause, right?

Now let’s talk about how you can help a good cause while having fun, getting crafty, and enjoying some wine!

Spirited Art believes in giving back to their community, which is great! They believe that “creating works of art while raising money for a great cause is quite an amazing combination!” They hold charitable event fundraisers once a month. Everyone signs up through this calendar as usual, but on these nights, they give up to 50% of our proceeds back to the selected charity. This is often over $1,000 in one night.
