Happy Thursday! Today’s guest post is from Serena @ A Girl Named Sue, and she’s got some gorgeous photos to share from the Merrifield Garden Center in Fairfax! –Liz
With the weather warming up, I’ve decided to once again attempt to grow some veggies on my balcony. I have dreams of making my own salsa and, at the very least, not buying a store bought tomato until September. For someone who wishes she were a gardener, Merrifield Garden Center in Fairfax has always been my happy place, a cornucopia of green and explosion of color set within beige Northern Virginia.
This past weekend we ventured out to their third, and newest, outpost in Gainesville and, upon pulling into the parking lot, couldn’t help but be impressed by the sheer size of the space. The Gainesville Merrifield is easily double the size, containing just that much more room for plants and home decor.
What makes this location even more special, however, is the cafe nestled in the corner. They have an extensive menu, including a nice selection of beer and wine. My cheese quesadilla had a nice blend of cheeses and just a bit of a kick. Grab a lover for a little lunch and pick out a bleeding heart plant when you’re done.
I love that with one quick trip down I-66 I can grow my succulent collection, talk baby talk to a turkey (yep!) and meet friends for a quick bite.
